Beyond Skin Medi Clinic

Melasma is a common problem among women sometimes termed the ‘pregnancy mask’ due to its link to hormonal sensitivity but pregnancy is not the only cause. Taking a contraceptive pill, stress or even thyroid disease can cause this condition.

Melasma appears as blotchy brown patches of skin generally on the nose, cheeks and forehead which can be very distressing to most people.
After much research I have found that the best combination for treatment of Melasma is the use of a pigment blocker such as Vitamin C in the mornings prior to application of an SPF 50+ and a Vitamin A at night. A series of skin needling and alternating chemical peels have proven to be most effective.
